Keele University Education Centre Foot Bridge

Staffordshire Access Scaffolding Ltd working for Novus Property Solutions Ltd on the ongoing multimillion pound refurbishment of the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The Project

This project is for the Link Footbridge connecting the Clinical Education Centre to the Keele University Education Centre and mainly used by Students, Teachers, Doctors etc.

The footbridge is used to cross over one of the busiest link roads of the hospital, used mainly by emergency ambulance vehicles and car parking onto the hospital grounds. It is also linked directly to the A34 and the bridge which is situated at that junction.

We have been involved in early engagement of all traffic management, diversions and height restrictions which have set up by RH Traffic Management. This has been quite intensive has the bridge has been lowered due to the scaffolding access.

The Delivery

Our scaffold engineers produced drawings and calculations before any scaffolding works could proceed. The scaffold was then erected to give access all over the bridge spanning the road and in making sure always that pedestrians and road traffic could still walk/drive under the bridge. Once the scaffold had been erected we worked with Enviro Wrap in making sure that the scaffold was encapsulated to make sure we had a weather tight structure to allow Novus to continue with their extensive repairs and refurbishment to the bridge.
